Danielle Serbin

Secretary General

Danielle Serbin is a senior Political Science major. Danielle was born and raised in Orange County, California. She loves all things politics, and has interned for the US House of Representatives, the British Parliament, and most recently for the US Senate in summer 2008. Aside from politics and Model United Nations, Danielle’s interests include reading, watching classic films, and going to the theatre. After college, Danielle plans on attending law school and pursuing a career in criminal law. This will be her eighth year participating in Model UN. Danielle previously served as BMUN 56’s USG of External Relations, and head chair of the European Union. She is looking forward to working with all the advisors and delegates over the next year and meeting you in late February.

Farnoosh Mahdavi

Chief of Staff

Farnoosh Mahdavi is in her fourth year at CAL studying the art of Rhetoric with an emphasis in History and Theory alongside a Film Studies major. In addition to her studies, she works as a resident assistant at the International House. Farnoosh’s interests include—but are not limited to—nature, people, psychology, the arts, and dark chocolate. Farnoosh plans to make her final year of Model United Nations the best one yet and looks forward to chairing the Sixth Legal Committee at BMUN 57.

Taumoha Ghosh

Taumoha Ghosh

Under-Secretary General of Logistics

Tamuoha is a fourth year Molecular Cell Biology major with an emphasis in Immunology. She has been in BMUN for her entire time at CAL, and it is her way of indulging her passion for international politics and affairs. She also spends a considerable amount of time working in a lab at the UCSF Diabetes Center, researching a therapeutic treatment for Type 1 Diabetes. Her other pleasures include travel, Harry Potter, television and movies (including Bollywood films), and dance.

Samantha Liang

Samantha Liang

Under-Secretary General of Publications

Samantha Liang is a senior Bioengineering major. This is her fourth and final year in BMUN, and she is excited to be USG of Publications and head the World Food Programme for BMUN this year. Outside of BMUN, Samantha spends a lot of her time researching in a Synthetic Biology lab. She also enjoys experimenting with Photoshop, reading, abstract art, board games and frozen yogurt.

Marie Logan

Marie Logan

Under-Secretary General of Sustainability

Marie is a senior majoring in History, with an emphasis on Latin American countries, and is completing a minor in Spanish. She has a passion for international relations and loves to travel. Her recent work with the consumer-oriented environmental group Food and Water Watch has inspired in her an interest in environmental awareness and sustainable living, and she is excited to serve as BMUN’s first Sustainability Coordinator for the 2008-2009 school year! She will also be chairing the Committee on Sustainable Development. In her free time, Marie enjoys biking the hills of Berkeley, practices yoga, and loves baking of all kinds.

Brian Huang

Brian Huang

Under-Secretary General of External Relations

Brian is a third-year student at Berkeley majoring in Economics and International Political Economy. For the past two years, he has been on the Crisis staff at BMUN. This year he will again be staffing the Crisis committees, as well as serving as the Under-Secretary General of External Relations. He is very excited for the 57th session, especially the Latin American Crisis with the 5-man Security Council. Outside of MUN, Brian works for a start-up company based in Berkeley that deals with independent film financing. Brian enjoys watching independent films, finding new music, and playing and watching sports.

Taylor Wiegele

Taylor Wiegele

Under-Secretary General of Internal Relations

Taylor Wiegele is a third-year student from Shawnee, Kansas (a little south of Kansas City) pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in Biotechnology. Outside of Model United Nations, Taylor enjoys swimming, running, politics, and music. In addition to hosting Berkeley’s high school conference in March, Taylor also competes in collegiate Model United Nations conferences, most recently the World Model United Nations Conference in Puebla, Mexico and also will serve as a head-chair for Berkeley’s collegiate conference in March, 2009. This is Taylor’s fifth year of involvement in Model UN and his third in Berkeley Model United Nations. Taylor is extremely excited to chair the Organization of American States for BMUN 57 and is also excited to serve as the USG of Internal Relations.

Julius Chen

Julius Chen

Under-Secretary General of Research

Julius is a junior majoring in Economics and also completing Pre-Medical studies. This will be Julius’ third year in BMUN, and he is ecstatic to be an officer and Head Chair of the World Health Organization. Julius is an avid fan of Cal football and Lakers basketball. When a break from school presents itself, he enjoys traveling with family, exploring the Bay Area with friends, and playing sports. Julius is looking forward to meeting the delegates and making sure that they have a blast at BMUN 57!

Marko Ristic

Marko Ristic

Under-Secretary General of Technology

Marko is a junior majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis on finance and accounting. This is his fifth year of doing BMUN, 3 years as a delegate and 2 years as a member. His interests include soccer, motorcycles, theater, and hanging out with his friends. He also loves music, and listens to all sorts of genres. He would also like to hear if you have any requests or improvements that could be made on the website.

Erin Simmer

Erin Simmer

Under-Secretary General of Special Events

Erin Simmer is a third-year Political Economy of Industrial Societies major. This will be her second year in BMUN and her ninth year participating in some form of MUN. She is thrilled to be BMUN 57’s USG of Special Events and to be chair of the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee in February 2009. Erin’s other interests encompass fine and performance Arts, as well as hiking and sailing.

Nic is a second year Rhetoric and Environmental Science student. Nic has been involved with Model United Nations for two years in high school and both of his years at Cal. In addition to BMUN, Nic is involved with the student advocates office, helping students with administrative problems. After an exciting and interesting first year in BMUN, Nic is ecstatic to spread his knowledge of MUN to students through BMUN outreach.

Charlene is a second-year Public Health major. This will be her second year in BMUN and her sixth doing MUN. Charlene’s other interests include swimming, playing water polo, bodysurfing, and watching movies.

Sohail is a sophomore majoring in Developmental Studies. He is a varsity soccer player and is interested in martial arts. He is extremely excited about helping organize BMUN 57.
