Position Papers

Here are some important dates for position papers:

Feb. 6 – Deadline for positions papers to be eligible for research awards and committee awards.

Feb. 20 – Deadline for positions papers to be eligible for committee awards. Delegates who submit their position papers after this date will not be considered for committee awards.

Delegates will submit their position papers to their committee’s e-mail address. Your graded position papers will be e-mailed back to you before the beginning of the conference. Research awards will be announced on the first night of the conference. Refer to the Delegate Guide for the specific format that position papers must follow. Check your committee blog to see if your Head Chair has any other specific directions.

Delegates MUST follow the below guidelines exactly in order for their position papers to be considered submitted. Directions for submitting your position paper on-line:

1) SUBJECT LINE: BMUN Position Papers/Country/Committee Example: BMUN Position Papers/Bolivia/6th Legal

2) One delegate from the delegation should submit BOTH position papers in ONE attachment from ONE e-mail address. We will not accept more than one attachment per delegation.

3) Leave the message box blank.

4) The document must be written in Microsoft word, and saved in .doc format. We will only accept ".doc" files. If you are using Word 2007, documents are automatically saved in ".docx" format. To ensure that your paper can be opened by readers using older versions of Word or Macs, please make sure that your documents are saved in ".doc" format.
-Click "Save As"
-Select "Word 97-2003 Document" (.doc) file

5) Delegates will receive an e-mail confirming receipt after they send their paper.

6) The paper will be read by one of the delegates’ chairs and returned with comments and a grade via e-mail.

*If your delegate does not feel comfortable using a personal e-mail, we suggest they create a free e-mail account on-line through Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or any other free e-mail service, and send their paper to their head chair from that account. Gmail scans for viruses, so it is one of the safer choices.
